The 15th president of the LDS Church, Gordon B. Hinckley, passed away on Jan. 27, 2008 following nearly 13 years as the LDS church prophet.
SALT LAKE CITY - The president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints died on Sunday at the age of 97.It was announced on Sunday evening that Gordon B. Hinckley, president of the LDS Church since 1995, died from issues related to his age.Born on June 23, 1910, Hinckley ascended to the church presidency on Mar. 12, 1995. For years, Hinckley served as the 15th prophet of the LDS faith as a successor to Howard W. Hunter.Hinckley became the oldest president in LDS Church history on Nov. 2, 2006 -- surpassing David O. McKay.Hinckley might be best known for his aggressive attitude in building LDS temples around the world. As of an. 2008, 124 LDS temples were operating worldwide. Prior to Hinckley's presidency, there were less than 50.
He was such an amazing man. With every word he said he inspired me to Be a better person.

President Gordon B. Hinkley served in the LDS church for 48 years, in various positions of leadership. It was through his love of people and his dedication to his Heavenly Father that he accomplushed so much.
His life is true and living example of all that is good. And it a beautiful example of what other should see as good. It is his example we should follow.
President Hinkley will be missed by everyone who knew him, everyone who heard him speak adn everyone who loved him.
Our heart felt thanks and condolences go to him, his family, his friends and his associates for all that they did to assist President Hinkley in his efforts as the Prophet of the LDS church.
